Mulvane, Kansas is named after Joab Mulvane, whose interests have shaped modern Kansas, especially in shipping logistics and Kansas' strategic advantage as a single distribution point for North America. President of at least nine railroads, with other business interests in the Kansas Town Company, the Quivera Town & Land Company, the Edison Light Company of Topeka, Shawnee Fire Insurance Company, and the Kansas Salt Company, among others, Joab Mulvane was instrumental in Mulvane's earliest stages of development. This brief article discusses some historical points of interest between 1876 - 1918.
